Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s father drowns to death
Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker’s father, Jose, has drowned to death in a lake in Southern Brazil on Wednesday.
He was just 57 years.
Jose was declared missing around 5pm local time, after going swimming at a dam at his holiday home near Rencao de Inferno.
ESPN reports that the Cacapava do Sul Fire Department assisted in the search and recovered the body just before midnight.
No foul play is suspected.
Brazilian club Internacional, who both Alisson and his older brother Muriel played for, tweeted their condolences after the news was confirmed.
The club wrote in a statement: “It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of José Agostinho Becker, father of our former goalkeepers Alisson and Muriel. Clube do Povo wishes strength to family and friends in this moment of so much pain.”
