Just in: Akinwumi Adesina sworn in for second term as AfDB President
Presidential of the African Developmental Bank, Dr, Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina has been sworn in for a second term in office as the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Adesina was sworn in on Tuesday at the AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, in an occasion that was broadcast virtually.
A former minister of agriculture in Nigeria, he was selected in May 2015; being the first Nigerian to hold the position.
He was re-elected on Thursday, August 27, when the annual meetings of the AfDB.Adesina is the first president to be elected by 100 per cent of votes by provincial and non-regional members of the bank.
