Court remands father of three for raping 13-year-old girl in Ondo

A 42-year-old father of three, Chinedu Michael, has been remanded in the correctional centre by an Akure Magistrates Court for raping a 13-year-old girl. Men of the  Amotekun Corps, Ondo State Command, arrested the defendant after the incident was reported by the victims parents. Michael was arraigned on Thursday, June 15, 2023, on a two-count charge of rape and indecent assault. According to the prosecution counsel, O.F Akeredolu, the defendant committed the offence at 4pm at Plaza area of Oke-Ijebu, Akure. The defendant was also alleged to have indecently assaulted the victim by inserting his finger inside her virginal. The offence contravenes Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006 and Section 4(2) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Ondo State, 2020. The plea of the defendant was not taken. Akeredolu, applied for the remand of the defendant at Olokuta Correctional Centre, pending issuance of advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The defence counsel, however, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him  file a counter affidavit to the application. Magistrate Damilola Sekoni ordered the remand of the defendant in the Olokuta Correctional Centre. Sekoni adjourned the case till June 22, 2023, to enable the defendant file a counter affidavit to the remand application.The post Court remands father of three for raping 13-year-old girl in Ondo appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
