Buhari prays another civil war will not happen in Nigeria

Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday paid tribute to the patriotic martyrs of the Nigerian civil war, which lasted for up to 30 months.

The Nigerian leader noted that their glorious sacrifices enabled the unity of this great nation.

Buhari states that their glorious sacrifices had helped unify the nation.

According to the President spokesman, Garba Shehu, Nigerians on both sides lost countless lives and prayed that “never again shall the country experience such”.

The President spoke at an event to welcome the World leader of the Tijjaniyya Islamic Religious Movement, Sheikh Muhammadu Mahy Niass, the Grand Khalifa of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.

At the event, President Buhari spoke to welcome the World Leader of the Tijjaniyya Islamic Religious Movement, Sheikh Muhammadu Mahy Niass, the Grand Khalifa of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.

Buhari appreciated the Movement for their prayers for an end to the war and the reuniting of Nigeria.

He also welcomed the Grand Khalifa to Nigeria and applauded their efforts in providing solutions to the problems of insecurity in the country.

Buhari says the spiritual leaders’ visit was historical and also commended the sect for their peaceful conduct in carrying out their activities.

Sheikh Dahiru Usman, the Tijjaniyya leader in Nigeria, says the group is the largest in the world, with over 70 million followers in the world.

Sheikh Niass says he has come to formally introduce himself as the new leader to the Government and the people of Nigeria.
